JOIN CHOIR!
We are glad you have decided to audition for the Clear Lake Choir program. We are thrilled to hear your audition! Here is what you need to know:
When is the audition?
For new students, after school or during Falcon Lunch any time in May. The sooner, the better! Intermediate choir members, we will come to your classes in Late April-Late May. If we miss you, we can do a schedule change the first week of school of the following year after you audition.
How do I sign-up for a time?
Just come by the choir room office or send Mrs. Blakey an email at jblakey@ccisd.net
How long will the audition take?
The whole audition will last no more than 5 minutes.
Where will the audition take place?
CLHS Choir Room is right beside Kruger Field House and the auditorium . Or during your middle school choir’s class period.
Do I need to prepare a song for this audition?
Nope! Prepare nothing! Come as you are. If you have ever read music before, you can try our sight-reading packet. If that overwhelms you, don’t worry! The purpose of this audition is to find out what you know and don’t know! If you don’t know how to sightread, that’s okay!
What happens in the audition?
Your placement audition will determine your ensemble placement and part assignment within our program. In your audition, you will sing a series of provided vocal exercises and read a piece of music at sight. If you have never done either of these activities, please do not worry! We teach you based on your current skill level.
Wait, I’ve never sung before in my life, can I really be in choir?
Of course! We have choirs for all different levels of singers; we will find the choir that fits your set of skills and talents.
Do I need to dress up?
No; come as you are.
