Mission

The mission of the Clear Lake High School choir program is to develop students into excellently skilled and creative musicians, independent and well-rounded individuals, and service-oriented citizens with a strong foundation of good character and a life-long love of music.

Ensembles

SYMPHONIC CHORALE

…is our flagship varsity level mixed ensemble for students in grades 10-12 with an emphasis on advanced vocal, technical, musical, and sight-reading skills, and the performance of high-level repertoire in concert and competition. Members of this ensemble are required to participate in the TMEA All-State Choir process and are highly encouraged to take Voice Lessons and participate in the Solo and Ensemble Contest.

SOUNDWAVES

…is an elite, vocal ensemble comprised of select singers, grades 10-12, based on advanced vocal technique, sight-reading abilities, academic standing, performance skill, a deep commitment to a rigorous extra-curricular schedule and a long history of tradition and excellence. This group will perform for school functions, athletic events, community and corporate events, and will travel to the elementary and intermediate schools to serve as ambassadors of our school and choir program, and to mentor the next generation of Clear Lake Choir musicians. Members of this ensemble are required to participate in the TMEA All-State Choir process, Voice Lessons, and the Solo and Ensemble Contest.

CONCERT CHOIR

…is a choir for students in grades 9-12 who have some experience in a high school choir or are highly advanced freshmen. Focus includes training of healthy technique and music literacy within a mixed voice context. Members of this ensemble are highly encouraged to participate in the TMEA All-State Choir process, Voice Lessons, and the Solo and Ensemble Contest.

MEN’S CHOIR

…is a choir for men building skills in the choral art in grades 9-12. Focus includes vocal training of the male changing voice, healthy vocal technique appropriate to the male singing voice, and music literacy. Members of this ensemble are encouraged to participate in the TMEA All-State Choir process, Voice Lessons, and the Solo and Ensemble Contest.

WOMEN’S CHOIR

…is a choir for women in grades 9-12 who have never been in choir before, are just coming into high school from the intermediate schools, or who could benefit from further skill building in vocal production specific to the female voice, and/or music literacy. Members of this ensemble are encouraged to participate in the TMEA All-State Choir process, Voice Lessons, and the Solo and Ensemble Contest.
